Confidential documents have revealed that the Otago Regional Council has their eyes on an industrial site for it’s new headquarters. Despite discussions having started between the ORC chief executive and the owner of the site, the council insists it is one of many possible options.
The site includes the 2100 square metre building designed by Miller Creative and has been leased until 2020. This site also includes an area leased to the Otago Polytechnic as a workshop, a four-bedroom house, three student flats, 30 storage units an a 250 square metre warehouse.
The council has spent previously $9,715,000 on land purchases, site assessments and temporary office space while researching for this new office site. This process has lasted more than a decade.
